How do you know that heat changes things? You observe it happening of course! Last week, each student observed ice melting in different conditions.
Sunny and shade, on concrete and grass, in the wind and not.
It was interesting to see the differences in melting rates!
When we got back to the classroom, we journaled our results!
Next, we will see how heat changes corn!
On Friday, the Cubs and I were blessed to have 6 parent volunteers come and help with our pumpkin math activities! We counted lines and seeds, used our senses to explore, floated and weighed the pumpkins. We even discussed shapes to design a face to carve a jack o' lantern! It was a great afternoon! Check out the picture slideshow for more pictures from the event!

- Having Monday off threw me for a loop and I forgot that we had library on Tuesday. Because of this, I didn't collect the library books for exchange. Sorry! I will be sure to take care of this next Tuesday.
- On Wednesday, we began Prime Time Reading and Math. All of the Kindergarten students were given the STAR Early Literacy Test and the Texas Early Mathematics Inventory. These assessments enabled us to group the students into ability groups. Each Kindergarten teacher and a few of the specialists on our campus work with the students based on their abilities and will work to fill in gaps and move them forward. If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to contact me.
- Report cards went home yesterday. If you would like to meet with me to discuss your child's progress, I have a daily conference time and I am available after school. Once again, please don't hesitate to contact me.
