This week is Ss week and that means one thing for sure...SKITTLES GRAPHING! We each received a fun bag of Skittles to sort by color and graph.  It sure is one tasty math lesson!

Jaya and Daltin sorting Skittles by color...

Chelsey, Cayson and Kenneth graphing the results from the sort...

We decided that the strawberry flavor was the class favorite while lime was the least favorite...

Have your child teach you the Ss song and movements! "For an Ss I make just a curvy little snake for that /s/, /s/, /s/, snaky makes my knees a little shaky"...TOO CUTE!

On Friday, we combined our study of the letter Aa and the 5 senses with an apple snack taste test! We tasted Apples, Apple Pop Tarts, Applesauce, Apple Jolly Ranchers, Apple Cider and Apple Pie.

Even though some of us didn't want to, we at least TASTED each item. A few Cubs found something new they liked!  We looked at, smelled, touched and tasted each item. I mentioned listening to each item but the kids just laughed at silly Mrs. Kilgore!

After the taste test, we picked our favorite Apple Snack item and we graphed the results.  Yes, Apple Jolly Ranchers won AGAIN this year! 5 Years running!

The last 2 weeks have been testing central around here! J Last Tuesday, we completed the TEMI -Texas Early Math Inventory test. This will tell our new math intervention specialist which of my students need extra help to get on level. This week, I have been testing the students one-on-one with the DRA-Developmental Reading Assessment test. This will help me create reading levels so that your child can receive on level instruction during our Primetime reading time which will begin in the next few weeks.

Today we had our first six weeks awards ceremony. I updated the slideshow with pictures of our big  winners! I love that Karol is such an "Eager Worker"! LOL! I choose 5 Cubs each 6 weeks to receive a special award from me. There are awards for the Cubs who have perfect attendance plus PE, Music and Library awards. The office also saves all the Tiger Paws from the 6 weeks and chooses friends to receive "Caught Being Good at CES" posters. I will update pictures of the ceremony each 6 weeks.

Today is “report card day” and since Kindergarten does not have report cards the first 6 weeks, I have included a skills sheet report in your child’s folder today.  An “X” indicates that your child did not recognize the letter at the time I tested them.  Please review and practice any skills that your child might be lacking and I will do the same on my end! Together we achieve more!

Thanks again for helping make our classroom a "tasty" place to be!
Look for pictures next Friday (10/14)!

Last week in our Science lesson, we learned how heating and cooling can change objects. Thanks to Seth's mom letting us borrow her air popcorn popper, we were able to see corn kernels change into popcorn! We were also able to see how butter melts.

We also froze popsicles to show how liquid changes to a solid and freezes when cooled. Landon loves his science experiment! :)
