Classroom Notes
Since we took cap and gown pictures this week, I am getting a few questions about the date of the Kindergarten graduation. We don't have a graduation ceremony here at CES. Instead, we bring you the GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH! Yes, we put on a full length circus performed by YOUR children! It is the highlight of our year and an event that you DO NOT want to miss!

If you have changed your email address or cell number since the beginning of the year, please send me the updated contact information. My group texts and emails are getting kicked back from a lot of my contacts. I don't want you to miss any important here at the end of the year. May is one CrAzY and FuN month in Kindergarten! Remember to check the blog too! www.kilgorescubs.blogspot.com is updated multiple times weekly with this information, snack calendar and pictures of the Cubs in action! Check it out!

With it being the end of the school year, we all feel it. We're ready for SUMMER! However, we have 6 more weeks to be classmates and Mrs. Kilgore's Cubs! To help my friends focus on the good they see in one another, I started a kindness chain! The first day or two was a slow start but we now have 4 chains of kindness! When our chain reaches the floor, we're having a PaRtY! Not sure what kind of party yet but it will be a friendly fiesta!!

Plants DO need both water AND sunlight to grow and live! Over the past 2 weeks, we observed these three plants. Plant 1 had water and sun, plant 2 had water and no sun, and plant 3 had sun and no water. Plant 1 was green, growing and blooming while the other 2 were yellowing, crispy and sad looking!

I love these kids! SO precious!

Monday was Earth Day and we discussed ways to take care of our earth, wrote about it (and finished those earth watercolor paintings from Friday!), read The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, and picked up trash on our playground!

We were very busy today working on Earth Day projects! So busy in fact that I forgot to take pictures! That's SO not like me! However, I did think to take pictures of the "work in progress" that we will complete this next week. Stay tuned...

Today, we discussed the letter Ww and it's sound. As part of the fun (and a good social skills lesson on acceptance and bullying) we read "Hooway for Wodney Wat." It's a story about a rodent who has a speech impediment (a topic close to my own heart!) and is able to outsmart a bully and become the hero of his class. We all changed our names to begin with the letter W just like Rodney! Of course, Mrs. Wilgore joined in the fun too!! Ü

This week in math, we are studying fractions...specifically halves. Yesterday, we learned about halves of circles. After the lesson, we read the book "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" and made a fraction craftivity! After we drew the chocolate chips on our cookie, we cut our cookies into two halves. Since you learn to share in kindergarten, we each took one half and traded with a friend! The craftivity was a lot of fun and the kids thanked me multiple times for planning it!
