When I decided to teach, about 9 years ago now, little did I know that I would fall in love at the beginning of every school year and cry happy tears at the end. It has been an awesome journey! I have made so many friends (big and little!) and learned a lot. Teaching the little friends has been very rewarding and each Kilgore Cub has a special place in my heart. I truly hope that they take a piece of me with them into their future because I have a piece of each of them in my heart.

I am blessed to have been able to teach my big friends as well! Ü Helping the teachers at CES the past 3 years with their technical issues or training them on classroom technologies has been a passion that I pursued outside of my classroom.

With that being said, I am happy to announce that I will be able to help teachers full-time starting this Fall. I am the new District Instructional Technologist for Commerce ISD! I will be in every classroom in the district working with teachers to utilize the awesome technology that we a so blessed with! So, this isn't "good bye" to any of my prior students, this is "see you in the hallways!" or "see you in your classroom!"  I'm very excited for this new adventure to begin. My heart is teaching, I just get to spread my love out over the whole district! <3

Thanks to my Cubs for the wonderful gifts and the bucket of love notes! I cannot wait to read each and every one! You guys are "bucket fillers!"

Also, thanks to the CES PTO for all of the yummy lunches and desserts this week AND the CISD administration for the pizza lunch today!

Lastly, thanks for Mrs. Lay and Mrs. Stegall for the adorable new CES T-shirt! I am blessed to be a part of such a great district!

...our 22 days of school countdown! Starting on Tuesday, a student will get a chance to pop a balloon to reveal our special activity/treat for the day! Can't wait to enjoy these last few days with my Cubs!

With it being the end of the school year, we all feel it. We're ready for SUMMER! However, we have 6 more weeks to be classmates and Mrs. Kilgore's Cubs! To help my friends focus on the good they see in one another, I started a kindness chain! The first day or two was a slow start but we now have 4 chains of kindness! When our chain reaches the floor, we're having a PaRtY! Not sure what kind of party yet but it will be a friendly fiesta!!

I love these kids! SO precious!

Monday was Earth Day and we discussed ways to take care of our earth, wrote about it (and finished those earth watercolor paintings from Friday!), read The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, and picked up trash on our playground!

This week in Social Studies, we learned about why we need jobs. You know how kids are, they think that all of our needs and wants can be bought from the money tree growing in the back yard! Hehe! Thanks to Paige Throgmorton (Evan's mom) for representing the Cubs and speaking about her job as a cardiac nurse! A special thank you also to Greenville PD K9 Officer Robert Pemberton (Hannah's dad) and Greenville FD's Colby Estes (Evie's uncle) for sharing their jobs with us!

Miss Hammons just happened to know a REAL Cowgirl...her sister-in-law Holly! So, she invited Holly to bring her horse and her tools to talk to us about them. She was very knowledgable and patient with all of the Kindergarteners and even let us pet her horse if we wanted! You know the cool part? Holly gives private riding lessons! Her business card is pictured below! Thanks to Holly Hammons for being such a great guest!

Thanks to all of the parents and Cubs who came to open house last Tuesday night! I love the excitement that the kids have over showing off their hard work and their classroom! Here are some highlights:

In science, we have been talking about the moon and stars. We made our own constellations and hung them on the ceiling.

Then, we used prepositional phrases (Language Arts lesson) to describe where our shooting stars went around the moon.

Also in Language Arts, we are reading expository (or real life) text. We read a few books about Texas and studied a few of the main facts. Using these facts we learned, we authored and illustrated a fact book about Texas. Another topic we learned about was the job and tools of the cowboy and cowgirl. After reading a few books on the topic, we wrote about a tool that they use and what the tool is used for. Finally, we learned how to draw ourselves a cowpoke!

Tonight was the Kindergarten Christmas program. I was so happy to see 17 of my Cubs on stage performing! They all looked so cute dressed up for the occasion and they did a fabulous job singing and dancing! I am so proud to be their teacher.

Today, the NED Show came to CES! We learned that the acronym NED stands for:

Never give up!
Encourage others!
Do your best!

The entire program was presented with a yoyo! To help fund this program, they sell special NED yoyos!! They are available for purchase until Friday and I will send home another order from home tomorrow. Learn more about the program here!

Congrats to the 2nd 6 Weeks Awards winners!

Perfect Attendance!

Poor Cazden slept through the whole thing...

To kick off our Christmas Around the World unit, Sinter Klass from the Netherlands came to see us after he visited the Dutch children on December 5th! We put our shoes out for him and he came to bring us treats! Good thing his helper, Zwarte Piet, didn't leave us switches!

Joshua and Jeremiah, excited to leave their shoes!

Greenlee finds a pencil, eraser and candy in her shoe!

Tripp enjoying his treats!

Recently, we took a field trip to the Northeast Texas Children's Museum herein Commerce. Commerce ISD is blessed to have this educational resource in our own community!

We learned about our heart rate...

About farming...

About the way water moves...

While Mrs. Kilgore rode her horse! :)

Check out the slideshow above for more pictures from the field trip!

I hope that everyone had a very restful Thanksgiving break and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. I know that I did! However, I do miss my little turkeys...or Indians...and can't wait to see them!

Working on our costumes and headbands

"I am thankful for my teacher." ~Elizabeth
(Awe! I am thankful for you too!)

"I am thankful of being a bucket filler" ~Brick
(Me too Brick! Fill those buckets! No dipping!)

Speaking of Brick, check out his Native American costume story...

Today was the 50th day of Kindergarten! We are just TOO cool for school!!

I love presents...especially chocolate ones!! Thanks Cubs!!

On Friday, the Cubs and I were blessed to have 6 parent volunteers come and help with our pumpkin math activities! We counted lines and seeds, used our senses to explore, floated and weighed the pumpkins. We even discussed shapes to design a face to carve a jack o' lantern! It was a great afternoon! Check out the picture slideshow for more pictures from the event!

I just LOVE balloons, don't you?! I especially like them when they come from the members of the CSEEF (Commerce Schools Educational Enrichment Foundation)! I wrote a grant for Commerce Elementary School to purchase a Promethean ActivTable...and it was FUNDED! YAY!

You may ask, what IS an ActivTable?

Check THIS out!
