On Friday, December 14th, we learned about Christmas in Mexico. We learned how to say Merry Christmas in Spanish and read The Legend of the Poinsettia by Tomie DePaola. The Legend says that a little girl wanted to give a gift to the baby Jesus but didn't have anything to give. She grabs a clump of green leaves by the church door and presents them to the baby Jesus in the manger. The leaves at the tip of the weeds magically turn a bright red and her gift becomes a beautiful offering.

To remind us of the story, we made our own poinsettia flowers and hung them from the ceiling of our classroom.

Feliz Navidad!
